The City of Columbia has a new phone app called COMO Recycle and Trash. Residents can find out the recycling and trash collection day for their address and receive reminders on their phone! The app also includes the Waste Wizard tool seen below that tells you which items are recyclable and how/where to recycle them.
Recycling and trash collection will be delayed one day during the week of a City-observed holiday. Please download our smartphone app, COMO Recycle and Trash, to get reminders for your collection day. The calendar on this app is adjusted for the holidays.
The City of Columbia observes:
To arrange a free pickup of over-sized items, call the Solid Waste Utility or complete the online request form at least 48 hours prior to your scheduled refuse day. This includes bulky items such as furniture and carpet (cut in lengths of 4 feet and in rolls not to exceed 24 inches in diameter). For more information, call 573-874-CITY(2489).
The City Ordinance states an additional collection fee for trash, recyclables and yard waste improperly placed curbside prior to 4 p.m. on the day preceding normal collection will be billed to the account holder or property holder. For residents who are unable to place trash out for collection on the normal day, please make alternate arrangements with a friend or neighbor. This policy does not affect individuals with certified medical problems who have prior arrangements for trash collected at the house. Yard waste not properly packaged that remains curbside 48 hours after the normal day of collection may be collected and additional fee charged to the account.
If you have questions, please call the Contact Center at 573-874-CITY(2489). To report improperly placed materials electronically, submit report form. Please help us keep Columbia clean.
